Attacks 101:Here, you will learn about the most commonly used attacks in the game. If you're new to the game you may be wondering how these attacks got their names. Well, its simple. The attacks are named after the type of troops used in the attack. For example, one of the most common attacks is called GoWiPe, which is an attack made up of Golems (Go), Wizards (Wi) and Pekkas (Pe).

Basic Must-Know Attacks:
The following attacks below are what we call "must-know" attacks. These are your basic fundamental attacks that all players learn before all other and more complex attacks. Players in the TH levels 3-8 should be working on developing these attacks while upgrading their bases towards TH levels 9-10. TH 3-6 should focus on learning how to use the Giant-Barch (Giants, Barbs and Archers) attack method. TH 7 players should be learning Dragon attacks, while beginning to practice using Hogs (TH 7 war attacks are highly effective when Dragons are used). TH 8 is where things start to get interesting. Prior to the most recent few updates, TH 7-8 players were able to use all dragon attacks in war to win 3 stars on most attacks. However, now that air defenses are much stronger and base designs are becoming more sophisticated, TH 8 players are beginning to use more complex troop compositions, such as GoWiPe and GoHog. TH 8 players are also begging to combine together two or more attack methods, creating what is known has hybrid attacks (hybrid attacks become more common the further you develop in the game). A good example of this is a highly effective TH 8 and TH 9 attack called GoHoWiPe. This attack uses methods from both the GoWiPe and GoHog attacks. (I call these attacks "fundamental" because certain techniques used in them are also used in more complicated hybrid attacks later on. For example, funneling and destroying CC troops along with heroes is vital to the success in 90% of all hybrid-surgical attacks. Funneling is first learned at the TH 8 level when a player uses the GoWiPe attack. Destroying CC troops is also important for hog attacks at the TH 8 level. Thus, this is why I choose to call these attacks basic/standard fundamental attacks, simply because learning them early is laying down a foundation for success later on. Giant-Barch (TH 3-TH 6)
Hogs (TH 7 & TH 8)
Dragons (TH 7 & TH 8)
GoWiPe (TH 8 & TH 9)
Loonian (TH 8 & TH 9)
GoHoWiPe (TH 8 & TH 9)
Higher Level Hybrid Attacks:
These attacks are a bit more complicated, but are necessary to learn the higher you move up in the game. As the developers create more and more updates, the game becomes more and more difficult, therefore requiring players to adapt by developing different troop compositions. Many of these attacks are what players call "surgical" attacks. Surgical attacks are typically used in war, and require a higher level of skill and patients to learn and perfect. These attacks are also hybrid attacks in nature, simply because many of their techniques derive from the fundamentals learned in the basic attacks above. For example, the GoWiWi attack is very similar to the GoWiPe attack, only, players use Witches instead of Pekkas. While GoWiWi is considered a basic attack starting at the TH 9 level, it's methods are learned at the TH 8 level as players execute GoWiPe attacks. As a player progresses in the game and develops his or her own skills, they will begin to notice that many ground attacks (if not all ground attacks) require the skill of knowing how to GoWixxxx. In essence, Golems and Wizards are typically used to initiate the attack by funneling certain troops towards a specific area, allowing the following troops (i.e. Hogs, Loons, Pekka, ect.) to head in the direction the player wants them to go. Sound complicated? Trust me, I know. But further you develop in the game the more this will make sense. While many TH 9-10 players still use basic attacks to achieve two star victories in war and to push for high level trophies, today many players are trying to push the envelop by developing 3 star attacks. Basic attacks such as GoWiPe and GoWiWi will most always produce successful 2 star attacks. However, only hybrid attacks designed from placing together elements from two or more different attacks will help players achieve 3 star victories. These attacks are usually tailored to a specific base and therefore is why they are mostly used in war. Trophy pushers use the same troop composition over and over, and find bases that fit to their troops. In war, players design troop compositions that fit to the specific base they are going to attack. This is why many hybrid attacks are called surgical attacks. The attacks are well planned and intentionally executed. Here is a list of attacks that start to become effective at the TH 9 level. GoWiWi (TH 9 & TH 10)
Lavaloonian (TH 9 & TH 10)
Valkyrie (TH 8 & TH 9)
Gohog (TH 8 & TH 9)
Mass Witch Attack (TH 9)
GoGiWiWi (TH 9 Freeze Spell)
Other Hybrid Attacks (TH 9 & TH 10)
*As players advance and discover new hybrid troop compositions, we will continue to add more links as we find them on the web. Be sure to check back in the near future.
